Peace yall welcome to summer (the sun's out!) so much going on in Seattle and for me  all roads lead to Umoja Fest 2010 right now.  Scroll down for details and info on participating as a vendor, parade entry, performer or volunteer.

If you don't have plans for after work today, come join me @ Hidmo afterwork for networking, good convo and good music by DJ Kuhnex in support of Umoja Fest 2010.

If you do have plans, please consider making a contribution in support.  For either option go to http://umojafestfundraiser.eventbrite.com

Before I go I gotta say justice for Oscar Grant!  Google it and get familiar. I don't want to see the same thing happening in Seattle but things are not going in the best direction right now.

Put The “U” in Umoja!

Join us for an evening of music, fun, networking, inspiration  in support Seattle’s premier African American Seafair summer celebration.  Network with established and up and coming movers and shakers of Seattle.

"Umoja" is a Swahili word which means "unity", is the main theme of the annual African American Seafair summer celebration. An artistic and cultural extravaganza that uniquely touches the spirit of the community, the Umoja Fest brings people of all ethnic backgrounds together for a celebration of culture, education, social festivities and networking.

In addition to producing a great community event, Umoja Fest offers a great opportunity to join in empowering our youth.  Through strategic partnerships with Seattle Vocational Institute and the City of Seattle Summer Youth Employment Program we host the Umoja Fest Summer Youth Academy.  Youth participate in a seven week academic enrichment and work experience helping with the planning, production and marketing of the festival.

We are fundraising for a big Umoja Festival coming up. Your support will help underwrite the costs of permits, staging, sound system, insurance, advertising and the many other costs that make this wonderful event possible and free of charge to the community. Please help continue the legacy of this valuable community institution that started over 60 years ago with the East Madison Mardi Gras celebration.

Hood Classic...Seattle's own NBA All Star Game

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

7thAnnual Adonai “Hood Classic” Basketball Tournament

SEATTLE, Washington (June 25, 2010) - Adonai Clothing is proud to announce the 7th Annual Adonai Hood Classic basketball tournament to be held at Garfield High School on July 10 and 11, 2010.  This year’s tournament will feature the all-time great basketball players from Garfield, Franklin, Rainier Beach, and newly added Seattle Prep.  Rosters from this tournament will include current NBA players, NCAA college athletes, street legends, and emerging high school stars competing for their alma mater.  Among the players who are scheduled to participate are Brandon Roy, Jamal Crawford, Aaron Brooks, Jason Terry, Terrence Williams, Nate Robinson, Spencer Hawes, Martel Webster, and many others.

Because of the success of the last six tournaments, the Hood Classic was recently featured in a 4-page article in Sports Illustrated.  With the departure of the Super Sonics, the Hood Classic gives Seattle basketball fans an opportunity to witness some of the Northwest’s top basketball talent up close and personal.  So whether it's to get autographs for the kids, or because you love rivalries, come out and enjoy the 7th Annual Adonai Hood Classic!
