Wyking 411.:::9:23:2010:::...Workparty @ Horace Mann/NOVA Bldg tomorrow...Seattle Hip-Hop Business & Career Expo...Choklate live...Third Level Events 20 Year Anniv

It's been a while but a lot of good things happen that I want to share with yall!

Two years ago around this same time we answered President (then candidate) Barak Obama's call to "Be the change you wish to see" and began transforming a couple of self medication facilities (i.e. crack houses) into a vibrant community based cultural space for youth and community now known as the UmojaFest P.E.A.C.E. Center.  This wouldn't have been possible without the blessings and support of many of you.

Tomorrow (9/24) I invite you to the UmojaFest P.E.A.C.E. Center fam and the United For Youth Coalition between 9am and 3pm for our first Day of Service clean up at Horace Mann/NOVA building as we embark on the mission of transforming this vacant building into a vibrant place of positive activity for youth and community.

We will be joining with People's Institutional Baptist Church and employees from Microsoft. Even if you can't stay for long to join the work party, stopping by to drop off some water or food for volunteers is also a good way to add energy and show support.

The Horace Mann (old NOVA) school building is located at 24th Ave & Cherry St. in the Central District of Seattle.

The Northwest region is a vibrant source of musical genius and a ground zero of technological innovation and breakthroughs. It is also an international city and the gateway to the Pacific Rim. As such, it is the perfect location to host a Hip-Hop Career & Business Expo focusing on technology for youth empowerment and community economic development.

The event will expose youth to career paths including music, arts, culture, business administration, entrepreneurship, journalism, film/video, technology, marketing, education, human services, politics and social entrepreneurship.  By using the power of hip-hop and other music genres to educate and elevate the community and region, the event will engage and expose youth to academic, career planning and entrepreneurship and technology resources related to their interests.
